Purmerend:
|
|
|
|
This is
one of the parking lots near the centre of Purmerend – Slotplein, but the
parking time is limited. In former
days, the Castle Purmersteyn was located here; nowadays just these small
foundations are all there is left. |

When you
cross the street at the traffic lights, walk into the small street
(Padjedijk). You end up on the Cheese Market, Kaasmarkt, and see at your left
hand the former Town Hall which now houses the Purmerends Museum. On your
right hand side you see the lunchroom ’t Hoedje van de Koningin (the Queen’s
hat) and on the other corner a bakery where you can have a simple lunch. Straight
ahead is Museum Waterland with changing exhibitions and to the left of this
building is a small square on which you find Theater de Purmaryn. In the
theatre you can have a drink and see changing exhibitions. Both the musea and
the Theater have a lift. Four
shopping streets end on the Kaasmarkt and on the market you find a church,
the Koepelkerk. Behind the church you will find a shopping mall: the Willem
Eggert Centrum – with a lift and escalators and a large parking lot. |
