Near the border of Germany, between the rolling hills, you find
Ootmarsum. The old centre has been renovated and it is very worth while
to have a look.
|
|
The market place and the joining streets have cobble stones, so in
a wheelchair it will not be a very comfortable ride, but there are many
friendly terraces to take a rest.
The opening hours given by the Dutch Tourist Office VVV are not
very updated, but don’t go to Ootmarsum on a Monday or Tuesday, Thursday,
Friday or Saturday are the best.

Throughout the city you find many statues, galleries and art
shops; for example in a side street from the main Marktstraat you find an
exciting little shop, which is closed on Monday and every day from 12.30
to 13.30 hrs.

Worth a visit are the open-air museum Openluchtmuseum Los Hoes and
the school-museum het Educatorium. The school-museum is very attractive –
it has a second floor, but no lift.

Then, in the Wortelboerstraat, you find a nice park with a tea
garden Theeschenkerij Engels’ Tuin; only open from Thursday to Monday
from 12.00 hrs. onwards. But since my visit was on a Tuesday ……
