Doorn: |
|
|
|
This
monument is to be found at the start of the many paths twisting through the
beautiful park Von Gimborn Arboretum just outside Doorn. Even day
at the end of February on a sunny it was a pleasure to be there. The best way
is in a wheelchair, because the distances are long. |
|
Furthermore
you can find a very small museum the Oudheidkamer in the basement of the
Town-Hall. (Gemeentehuis). Worth a visit; it has a lift. Famous is
the Castle Kasteel Huis Doorn, in
which everything has been kept in the original state after the death of
Emperor Keizer Wilhelm II. From the parking lot to the castle is some hundred
meters; the castle has a lift; limited access for wheel-chairs. Doorn is
one of the villages in the tourist-scenic-tour Heuvelrug-Autoroute and also
in the Castle-route. When it’s
raining cats and dogs it is worthwhile to go to museum “De Weistaar” in
Maasbergen. In Maasbergen follow the signs to Amersfoort and after that,
there are signs along the road that guide you. It is a cheese-museum-party
farm with an attractive museum part and drink and snack are available; all on
the ground-floor. |
